About Justen
Justen A. Wright is running to be the City of Wilmington’s 58th mayor. With more than a decade of experience serving on Wilmington’s City Council and a dedicated career as a local business owner, Justen has been a champion for uplifting Wilmington neighborhoods.
In 2008, at the age of 24, Justen became the youngest person ever elected in the City’s history to a position on Wilmington’s City Council. He would go on to serve an additional eight years on City Council as an At-Large member. During his time on City Council, Justen demonstrated he has the courage to make tough decisions, confidence to stand alone, and compassion to support the needs of others.
In addition to working for the people in the City of Wilmington, Justen is also a local, small business owner. As the owner of the House of Wright Mortuary and Cremation Services, he has dedicated his career to helping local residents during some of life's lowest moments. Justen represents the company’s second generation of leadership. Under his direction, the House of Wright Mortuary and Cremation Services has expanded to three locations in Wilmington, Smyrna, DE and Penns Grove, NJ.
But Justen is more than his job. He is an active member of the community. Justen is a committed member of the NAACP and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He has also served in leadership roles for local and national professional organizations, including president of the Delaware State Funeral Directors Association and committee chairperson for the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association.
Never leaving the city or it’s citizens behind, Justen and his wife, Trista, continue to raise their two sons in Wilmington.
